It Starts With You

Every great adventure begins with you. Our volunteers mentor youth, plan outdoor events, and build community connections to set youth up for success in doing the things that they want to do. Whether you're a parent, alumni, or new to Scouting, we'll train and support you every step of the way. 

At 1st Stittsville Scouting, volunteers are the heart of every adventure. Whether you're leading a game for six-year-olds, planning a weekend camp, or managing the behind-the-scenes logistics that keep our group running, there's a place for you on our team. 

Scouting experience isn't required - we provide training, mentorship, and a supportive community of Scouters who share a love for the outdoors and for helping young people grow. 

Roles Within Our Group

Colony Scouters (Beavers, ages 5–7)

Introduce our youngest youth to the magic of Scouting — songs, crafts, nature walks, and teamwork. You’ll help create a safe, fun environment where curiosity leads the way.

Pack Scouters (Cubs, ages 8–10)

Encourage adventure and skill-building through games, simple hikes, and community service. You’ll guide Cubs as they learn independence, problem-solving, and friendship.

Troop Scouters (Scouts, ages 11–14)

Support youth who are ready to take the lead. Troop Scouters mentor Scouts as they plan and run their own camps, projects, and outdoor challenges.

Company Advisors (Venturers, ages 15–17)

Venturer youth set big goals — from backcountry trips to service projects. Advisors act as mentors and safety nets, offering advice while letting youth take ownership.

Crew Advisors (Rovers, ages 18–26)

Rovers are young adults exploring leadership, service, and adventure on their own terms. Advisors offer guidance, connections, and encouragement as they chart their path.

Group Committee Members

Prefer to help off the trail? Committee volunteers handle the essential “behind the scenes” work — event coordination, finances, fundraising, communications, and logistics. These roles make it possible for every section to thrive.

Whether you have an hour a week or a few hours a month, your skills can make a difference. We’ll match you with a role that fits your schedule, interests, and comfort level.

Training and screening are provided by Scouts Canada, and you’ll always have the support of experienced Scouters to help you succeed.
