Fire Pit Maintenance Schedule
1st STITTSVILLE SCOUT GROUP
FIRE PIT MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
The B. P. Fire Pit enjoyed by 1st Stittsville Scout Group is a very unique item here in Ottawa. It would only take a whim on the part of the city to lose it. This would be a shame and we need to do what we can to safe guard this location.
One of the best things we can do is to maintain the fire pit so that it does not become an eyesore. Each month of the Scouting Season will be covered by a section(s) to ensure that the B. P. Fire Pit is in good order. This duty involves the following details (subject to the time of year) to be performed by the “Duty Section”:
> Weekly inspections
> Remove build-up of cold ashes and burnt wood
> Sweep fire pit tiles
> Remove vegetation growing between tiles
> Rake stones uniformly between benches and pit
> Pile any remaining wood/logs neatly beside chopping block
> Re-place chopping blocks on their original spots (see dead grass circles)
> Pick-up any garbage on site
> Shovel out in Winter
Each section using the Fire Pit is still required to clean-up after themselves, but this extra attention should ensure a well-groomed Fire Pit and help to keep the local neighbours happy.
| Month | Duty Section
| | September | Colony A & B
| | October | Wolf Pack
| | November | Coyote Pack
| | December | Delta Troop
| | January | Alpha Troop
| | February | Extreme Troop
| | March | Falcon Pack
| | April | Eagle Pack
| | May | Colony C, D, & E
