We are always looking for parents to volunteer as scouters, to help run our programs. Past experience is not required, and we provide all the necessary training and mentoring to introduce and integrate new scouters to Scouting.
In an effort to further increase youth safety and security in Scouting programs, Scouts Canada requires that volunteers complete the following items before they will be allowed to wear a Scouter uniform and provide programs to youth:
- Register as a Volunteer online at myscouts.ca (online)
- Complete Volunteer Screening including Reference Checks and Interview (in-person)
- Have a valid Police Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector (online)
- Sign and abide by the Scouts Canada Volunteer Code of Conduct (online)
- Complete RESPECT training (online)
- Complete Canadian Path Woodbadge 1 training (online)
Some of these items can take several weeks or more to complete. We encourage scouters to enrol in the Spring to allow enough time for the screening to be completed before programs start in September.
There are no costs associated with scouters registrations.
Please contact the Group Commissioner for more information.
