This forum contains simple step by step instructions for the construction of an Alcohol Stove. These instructions were created in 2009 for our annual Klondike Derby event. We chose this design as it provided an interesting program activity for Troop aged youth to build a simple lightweight stove they could use for cooking in winter conditions. Since 2009 I have been asked for these instructions several times by other scout groups. As such, they are now available for everyone to download from this web site. PROGRAM OBJECTIVE The objective of this program is to provide instructions for Scout groups to construct and test a small lightweight stove. Through execution of this program the youth will learn how a simple alcohol stove works and they can then use it for cooking. PROGRAM GOAL This goal of this program is to provide sufficient program material for Scout leaders learn how to build and ignite an alcohol stove and then teach scout youth the same. TARGET AUDIENCE Applicable for Troop aged youth (11-14 yrs) and older. This program requires the use of tools, fine motor skills. Considerable care is needed when running this program as sharp knives and the stove construction generates sharp metal edges which can cut fingers.
