Read all about it here... _________________ Scouter Rob 1st Stittsville Alpha Troop Last edited by ScouterRob on Wed Jan 19, 2011 7:41 pm; edited 8 times in total Sun May 11, 2008 3:51 pm   On May 10, 2008, the 1st Stittsville Scout Group joined up with the Timbermere Community, and the City of Ottawa, to participate in a day of planting trees in the Timbermere area. The weather was fantastic, the participation was great, and the ground was full of rock. A little bit challenging getting a hole dug large enough to plant the various trees and shrubs that were provided by the city, but not a problem for the 1st Stittsville youth. We were in no hurry, and with a little gentle persuasion, some good sound muscle work and patience, the holes were dug one by one and a tree planted. Participating in the event was not only our group, but many of the local community home owners were there, the girl guides were also there in a good number, and even some youth from the high school putting in some community volunteer work showed up to dig some holes. The event was organized very well, with many of the volunteers showing up at 7:30am to line the trees up in the area for planting, arranging a BBQ for the volunteers, and providing a tent for first aid treatsment should it be required. Luckily, from what I'm aware of, the 1st Aid Tent wasn't used at all, and the day went off without a hitch. On behalf of the 1st Stittsville Scout Group, I'd like to congratulate the organizers, thank the city for their contribution and invitation for us to join them, and we look forward to the next event we can participate in to help the community.
