LEGEWADE SUMMER CAMP
SEA SCOUT ADVENTURE
July 29 - August 3, 2012
This week long camp, Sunday evening to Friday noon, is what Scouting is all about. Camping skills put to the test. And then we add a nautical twist, Sea Scouting. With its own sheltered bay, deep diving platform and a fleet of canoes and kayaks, Legewade Camp offers a full schedule of fun and adventure. All Scouts will be tenting within meters of the shoreline. Additional activities such as fishing, swimming, & crafts will test the Scouting youth skills and help build new ones. Meals will be prepared over open campfires and on Coleman stoves, with all youth rotating as cooks within their crews. This will be a team building experience with an element of competition between crews. Healthy, but fun menus, indoor shelter available (if required), fully supervised activities, with certified 1st Aiders on hand, and lots of outdoor exercise (with plenty of sunscreen). Campfires with songs, skits, cheers, and jokes. Story telling, roasted marshmallows, and fun. There will be a movie night mid-week, with popcorn & soft drinks. Scouts will need to bring their personal equipment, sleeping bags, mats, ditty bags, bathing suits, and towels. PFDs (life jackets) are available for those who require.

Cost: $140/person (Cheques payable to “1st Stittsville Scout Troop”)
Payment due July 15th

Camp Details
Arrival: Sunday, August 2nd after 5pm. Please ensure campers have eaten dinner before they arrive.
Pick-up: Friday, August 7th no later than 12pm. Ensure you advise a leader before you depart.
Directions to Camp: Camp Legewade is located approx. 75 km west of Ottawa, at 1010 Fraser Road near Renfrew on Hurds Lake.

- From Ottawa take Highway 17 West.
- Turn left onto highway 508 towards Calabogie.
- At Burnstown turn right towards Renfrew.
- After approximately 5 km turn left onto Fraser Road (sign to Hurds Lake Hamlet).
- Continue along this road for approximately 3.5 km past a float plane base to a sharp left hand bend.
- At bend, look for large yellow sign "Camp Legewade".
- Go through the gates and down the track for 1.5 km to reach the camp at the end.
- There is a steep hill at the end and the track is rough so please drive slowly.
What to bring: I've attached the standard kit list for Scouts for your reference but please adjust as required given the camp is 5-day/4-night instead of our usual weekend excursion. Also, please ensure you add the following to your kit list: bathing suit, beach towel, camp chair, water toys (googles, snorkel, etc., if desired), fishing equipment, PFD (some will be available for those who require) and any leisure/past-time activities (reading books, sketch/drawing pads or journals, favorite hobby/craft/board game, etc.). A few Scouts have mentioned that they would like to bring their acoustic guitars and I think it's a great idea. Scouts will need to properly care for their instrument and the guitars can be stored/protected in the lodge when not in use.
Consent Form: Due to the duration of the camp, an authorized consent form is necessary. Please complete, sign and provide the attached consent form to the Camp Chief Kevin Chappell upon your arrival.

Other Information:
- No electronic games or music devices will be permitted at camp. Real life interaction and the sounds of nature and lapping water will have to suffice.
- Please do not bring any outside food or candy.
