Beaver Program Goals |
|
In Beavers, "Sharing" is the major focus upon which all activities are based. Scouts Canada believes that the best way to teach young children and foster responsibility is to provide a program that demonstrates encouragement and caring in an atmosphere of cooperation and non-competitiveness.
Through the sharing theme, the Beaver program is intended to build self-confidence and feelings of self worth within the child. Through it, Beavers develop a sense of respect and caring for others as there is no pressure of the experience of competition.
For Beavers, the belief is that it's more important to:
- It is better to try rather than to focus on the achievement
- Better to gain experience rather than to focus on the win
- Sharing with others is better than keeping for yourself
- Learning to work and play together is more rewarding than pitting themselves against each other
