TURKS HEAD WALKING STICK PROGRAM
1st STITTSVILLE SCOUTS
Welcome to the 1st Stittsville Scout Group "5Bx16L Turks Head Walking Stick Program" forum.
PLEASE NOTE
Due to the increasing number of requests for this program, I have begun adding 'draft' PDF versions of the instructions for building the 5 bight 16 lead Turks Head Knot. I have several more handouts to generate. These are:
1. How to make the Needle used for weaving the Turks Head Knot
2. Common problems encountered when making the Turks Head Knot
These will be added shortly.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the “TURKS HEAD WALKING STICK PROGRAM” is to teach scout leaders and scout youth the skills for creating a large 5 Bight x 16 Lead Turks Head knot that can be used as a handle on a walking stick.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
The objective of this program is to provide sufficient instructions so that Scout leaders can teach Scout youth how to create a decorative knot for their walking stick. The execution of this program will help youth learn about perseverance and gain an increase in self confidence.
PROGRAM GOAL
This goal of this program is to provide sufficient program material for Scout leaders to run the Turks Head Knot program within their own scout groups and without extensive support from other leaders.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This program requires the use of tools and fine motor skills. The information in this program is applicable to Scout Leaders from all sections and Troop aged youth.
