We have used this "Code" each year that we have run this section. On our first meeting night we ask the parents to stay for an extra 15 minutes to give them an overview of our Scout program for the coming year. At this short discussion we also talk about respect, expected behavior and dress code that we expect the youth to follow. We tell the parents that Delta Troop has a code of conduct which we expect the youth to follow and parents to reinforce. We ask the parents to get their scout youth to walk through the code of conduct with them at home and discuss the points that are documented. After that discussion, both parent and youth sign and the "Code of Conduct" form. The process is as follows: 1. Opening night, youth are given the code of conduct and discuss the contents with the scout leaders. Adjustments are made to the code of conduct if the scout youth want to add/delete any items. 2. Second night. Youth are given the updated code of conduct. They are then instructed to take it home to their parents. 3. Thirds night. Code of conduct is returned with both the parent/guardian signature and the youth signature on the document. Our code of conduct places special emphasis on "KRAFT", which stands for the following: 1. K: Kindness. Be kind to other scouts, leaders and parents. 2. R: Respect. Show respect to others. Show respect to the environment. 3. A: Acceptance. Be accepting of other's flaws and disabilities. 4. F: Fairness. Be honest and fair in your judgements and tell the truth when asked. 5. T: Tolerance. Be tolerant and patient of others behavior. Bring issues to your leader's notice.
