Over the past few years our 1st Stittsville Scout Troop sections have been developing program activities that challenge the scout youth to learn and sharpen their out door skills, new skills, are fun to attend and address many of the Chief Chief Scout Award requirements. The Chief Scout Award is the highest award that scout aged youth can earn across Canada and brings National Level recognition to the youth. This URL provides a small background to the Chief Scout Award http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chief_Scout%27s_Award The information presented in this forum are as follows: Weekend Standing camp activities Mobile Camp activities One day (minimum 6 hour outing) events The activities listed in this forum are primaily intened to address the following: VOYAGEUR OUTDOOR SKILLS requirements #1 and #2 PATHFINDER OUTDOOR SKILLS requirements #1 and #2 However as you read through the activities that are listed in this forum, you will find that many other Voyageur and Pathfinder requirements are also addressed. These requirements include the following: 1. All Leave No Trace Principles 2. Tree/shrub/wildlife/habitat indentification 3. Use of scout equipment 4. Care and maintenance of scout equipment 5. Environmental Code of Conduct 6. Outdoor cooking activities 7. Safe Campsite layout activities 8. Navigation using Map, Compass and GPS 9. Practical use of Knots in an outdoor environment Though the activities described in this forum do not provide deep detail about all of the above requirements, you can find out how we addressed these requirements and the materials used, by reading the program activities that are listed in the Voyageur and Pathfinder Outdoor Skills requirements forums.
