CHIEF SCOUT AWARD PROGRAM RESOURCES
1st STITTSVILLE SCOUTS

Voyageur Citizenship Requirement #8
Creatively demonstrate your knowledge of the history of Scouting as described in the Canadian Scout Handbook.

Welcome to the 1st Stittsville Scout Group Chief Scout program resource forum. Over the past few years our 1st Stittsville Scout sections have been developing program activities that are intended to address the requirements for the Chief Chief Scout Award.

The information presented in this forum are ideas that have been run by our Troop sections as well as ideas that have been collected from other scout groups within Canada.

The Chief Scout Award is the highest award that scout aged youth can earn across Canada and brings National Level recognition to the youth. This URL provides a small background to the Chief Scout Award http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chief_Scout%27s_Award

Please feel free to download these program ideas for your own use.

If you have other program ideas for this requirement that you would like to share, please email scouterpyd@rogers.com and they will be published at this forum.

**NOTE**
For this requirement our Troop decided to run a Jeopardy program using a PPT file. Please note that all of the questions that are in this PPT can be found in the Scouts Canada Troop Youth Handbook.

To get the youth prepared for this requirement, our Troop had the youth spend 15 mins reading the front section of their scout handbooks for 4 weeks in a row. After each 15 minute reading activity our leaders threw out questions to the youth to see if they could remember what they had read. This kept the youth challenged and also made the final jeopardy program activity more rewarding to the youth as they recalled what they had read and patrols challenged each othe for answers.

Program Tip: To make it interesting, bring in a small toy which makes a squeaky sound. Each patrol gets to use a squeaky toy to signal that they want to answer the question. The first one to sound the squeaky toy gets to answer the question.

Program time: 60 minutes
