Registration for the 2017-2018 Scout year opened May 9, 2017, and covers over 9 months of fun and adventure. Programs start again in the fall, mid- September and continue until June 2018.
Online Self Registration – Parents register online, using the Scouts Canada registration website (www.myScouts.ca). Many sections fill up before September and parents are encouraged to register early (early registrations before July 1st save $50).
Note: Those who wish to submit paper registrations only, please contact email@example.com. The forms for in-person registration can still be downloaded from Scouts Canada’s myscouts.ca website.
In-Person Meet and Greet Night – All new and returning members are invited to visit us to speak directly to your Section Leaders about the new year ahead and answer any questions you may have.

Scouting is a volunteer run organization, and we cannot run our programs without energetic and enthusiastic adult leaders. Adult registration is free, and we provide all of the necessary training. It is a great way to give back to your community.
Beavers: Age 5 to 7 years
Cubs: Age 8 to 10 years
Scouts: Age 11 to 14 years
Venturers: Age 15 to 17 years
Exceptions to the age guidelines can be made based on maturity and/or special needs of the youth involved. Such exceptions should be discussed with the Group Commissioner.

There are numerous sections and meeting evenings available in Stittsville.

Finances should not be a barrier to participation. Please contact the 1st Stittsville Scout Group Commissioner to discuss options for subsidies or deferred payments, based on your financial situation.
Fall and Spring registrations can be refunded up to the end of September of the current year.
We are always looking for parents to volunteer as leaders, to help run our Scouting programs. Past experience is not required, and we provide all the necessary training and mentoring to introduce and integrate new leaders to Scouting.
In an effort to further increase youth safety and security in Scouting programs, Scouts Canada requires that volunteers complete the following items before they will be allowed to wear a Scout Leader uniform and provide programs to youth:
- Register as a Volunteer online at myscouts.ca (online)
- Complete Volunteer Screening including Reference Checks and Interview (in-person)
- Have a valid Police Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector (online)
- Sign and abide by the Scouts Canada Volunteer Code of Conduct (online)
- Complete RESPECT training (online)
- Complete Canadian Path Woodbadge 1 training (online)
Some of these items can take several weeks or more to complete. We encourage leaders to enrol in the Spring to allow enough time for the screening to be completed before programs start in September.
There are no costs associated with leader registrations.
