We are always looking for parents to volunteer as leaders, to help run our Scouting programs. Past experience is not required, and we provide all the necessary training and mentoring to introduce and integrate new leaders to Scouting.
In an effort to further increase youth safety and security in Scouting programs, Scouts Canada requires that volunteer complete the following items before they provide programs to the youth:
- Adult Registration Form
- Completed Volunteer Screening Form including Reference Checks
- A valid Police Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector
- Sign and abide by the Scouts Canada Volunteer Code of Conduct
- Child Youth Safety and Readiness Training within the first two months (2 hours, online training)
- Woodbadge 1 training for your section (3-4 hours online training)
Some of these items can take several weeks to complete. We encourage leaders to enrol in the Spring to allow enough time for the screening to be completed before programs start in September.
There are no costs associated with leader registrations.
Please contact the Group Commissioner for more information.
